Having fun picking fabrics ;-)

I have just been having a whale of a time picking some fabrics for a challenge over on Quokka Quilts in conjunction with Fat Quarter Shop

I am not confident picking fabric combinations, but thought I would have a go anyway ;-)

this is what I came up with

I just love the combination of Black White & Red

Squishies in the mail ;-)

The letterbox has been busy this week - with squishies ;-)

I was most surprised to see I had won a giveaway from Sarah of The Last Piece - I usually don't enter many giveaways but Sarah asked us to leave a comment on what we are most thankful for - so I just had to let her know I was most thankful for still being married to the man I love after 30 years (well in February it will be 30 years).

These fabrics are BEAUTIFUL - such clean crisp colours.  I may have to keep a look out for the other colour combinations available - I just loved the reds and pinks ;-)

I received this beautiful block from Lorraine for the December swap for QBSA

Lorraine has let me know that my block has arrived safely, and this is the block I sent her

Lorraine asked for any block in any colour

Have been busy doing some more Christmas preparations (see my other post HERE for some yummy chocolate goodness) and am hoping to get a few more 'stocking filler' gifts completed.  Will post pics when I get some time ;-)

The 12 Bears of Christmas

My Design Wall - blocks from swaps

It is that time of year where I am playing with my design wall.  Here are some blocks I have received in the various swap groups I belong to.

I love the two colour pinwheel#7 blocks - I may decide to put all these together in their own quilt.

I think the log cabin in the bottom right of the centre section is wrong - too much green ;-)  I think I will take this block off and keep it with the other blocks that have a lot of green in them.

Swap received from Leonie

Here are the beautiful FQs received from Leonie for the Fat Quarter Swap for November.

Thanks Leonie, they are gorgeous ;-)

I am getting quite a collection of embroidery threads together from my various swap partners .... I can see I am going to have to venture into the world of embroidery real soon ;-)

Rainbow Charm Swap

I am taking part in a Rainbow Charm Swap and have picked out my fabrics and cut them up.

I was surprised it didn't take that long to cut up 16 charm squares in each colour.

There was some discussion on the Flickr group whether to wash or not.  I always wash my fabrics - I have had too many bad experiences with fabric shrinking and colours running.

As usual, I put a ColourCatcher in with my fabrics and this is what came out

On the left is a fresh ColourCatcher and on the right is what run out of the fabrics - I would much rather the colours run when I wash it before I use the fabric, than the colours run in a finished article ;-(

I would feel terrible if any fabric I gave someone caused a colour run in their finished article ;-(

November Blocks and thanks to swap organisers

I have received some beautiful blocks during the month of November

From Susan (no blog), for BSA - The colours are perfect, unfortunately, this photo does not do the colours justice!

I enjoyed the challenge of making this one ;-) - 28 HSTs!

from Tarnyia for QBSA - once again, the colours are perfect!
One happy little vegemite here!

This is the block I sent to Tarnyia

Tarnyia asked for scrappy spider web with a grey centre - I really enjoyed making this block.

Here is the block I sent for my first 6" swap for Cheryl

I hope it has arrived by now ............. it can sometimes take a bit longer to get to WA!

My thanks go to SueB of QBSA & 6" swap group, Linda of BSACraftyPug of Christmas Block Swap and Sophie of Block Lotto for being such great organisers throughout the year.
