Another happy swapper ;-)

This is the sneak peek I posted for Elizabeth
for
Quilting Block Swap Australia earlier

Now here is the full pic

It is a variation on the Annie's Choice block.

Elizabeth asked for any star block in blue/purple/red/cream - went through my stash and picked the purples
(there is a touch of blue & cream in there too :-) )
Thanks for letting me know the block has arrived and that you like the colours I have chosen - I am having so much fun participating in these swaps

GO Baby giveaway

2nd post of the day, please scroll down to see FNSI show and tell

The more I see of this little device, the more I want one ;-)

A house in the country is having a giveaway

It took me 15 mins to try and decide which dies to pick - there are just so many uses for this lovely little machine

FNSI results and now I think I understand ......

FNSI again ;-)

My July to do list - done and dusted ;-)

July Block Lotto blocks
July Christmas Block Swap
July QBSA
July BSA
Finish baby quilt

I finished off my blocks for the various swap groups I am in.

This is for Leena for Christmas Block Swap

This is for Elizabeth for Quilting Block Swap Australia

Ladies, your blocks will be in the mail on Monday.

When I first started quilting and cruising the world of quilting blogs, I couldn't understand how people could have so many UFOs - 'unfinished objects' and have so much fabric, just sitting around waiting for the perfect project.

Oh, how things have changed in such a short amount of time.

My first bulk fabric purchase 'just for me' bought in July 2010

my yardage piles at the beginning of the year

now my fabric has grown to fit three shelves
  • top shelf is washed and ready to go
  • middle shelf is yet to be washed
  • bottom shelf has some backing fabrics and some quilt tops ready to be backed and quilted
The eagle eyed will notice that the fabric I bought a year ago is still on the shelf.

two quilt tops ready to be backed and quilted, then bound - these two quilts are my winnings from Block Lotto

Must be off now, I have some wedding invitations to work on.

Next FNSI - 22nd July 2011

The third Friday of the month is usually Friday Night Sew-in and I had Friday, 15th noted in my calendar for my next FNSI.

I prepared during the week, making sure I had a definite plan of attack ;-)

quilted and ready for binding.

When I went to FNSI to post my link, I found the next FNSI would be on 22nd July - so I guess I get two FNSIs this month - win, win ;-)

How about you? Participation is as easy as one-two-three:
1. Commit. More Info HERE  and post your intention on your blog.
2. Sew. On Friday night, get your house and family settled, get comfortable and work on projects of your choice.
3. Share. Sometime on Saturday, publish a post about what you worked on (and share photos in the FNSI Flickr group)

Weekends - don't ya just luv em'

Saturday was bright & sunny, but very cold ;-), which was a bit of a contrast from Sunday, which was wet & miserable and cold ;-(

Our roses have been pruned and the back garden looks so sad.

The next blooms should be end of September, beginning of October and it will look like this, once again ;-)

Hubby had some new software to experiment with on the weekend, so I was left to my own devices ;-)

After working some more on the wedding invites, I worked on my July Block Swap Adventure block for Laurrie, in Canada.

here is a sneak peek

Laurrie, your block is in the mail - it could take about 10-14 days.

Block Lotto Blocks - July

I am loving being part of Block Lotto - it is a great opportunity to try out new blocks, be part of a great group, and if you are lucky enough, a great way to increase your block stash ;-)

The current block is a 16 patch liberated checkerboard

This photo includes my earlier blocks - makes a total of 5 pairs (the greens are different fabrics)

Time to reveal my wonky house

I was quite late in completing my June block for Block Swap Adventure, and even later in posting it, but I kept my pledge, and kept my partner (and Swap Organiser) informed each step of the way.

Here is the tease I posted earlier.

Since the other items I posted on the same day have reached their destinations, I will assume that this wonky house has too.
Here is the full block.

My partner asked for a "wonky house or tree, bright and I love white as an addition, but no black or brown please".
I really hope I have fulfilled my partner's request - even though it took me several attempts to get it right, LOL, I quite like the end result, it makes me think of a child's drawing and colouring in page.

Unfortunately, I don't know if my partner was happy with our swap as I have not heard from her - I will have to assume that 'no news is good news'.

making a list and checking it twice

Every few months, I go through my block swap lists to make sure I have completed all my swaps, mailed them to the recipients and blogged about it on my blog.

I came across these blocks that I had not blogged about
**hangs head in shame**

All is good though, I did remember to let my partner know via email that they had arrived ;-)

These lovely blocks came from Larissa for the May swap for QBSA

such gorgeous Batiks - I think I will need to add some of these to my stash

I was so lucky to receive two blocks from Larissa and she has such good taste ;-) I have actually made myself a bag out of the same fabrics HERE

fully mobile again and blocks sent and received

What a week!

Last Sunday, I got up out of a chair and pulled a muscle in my leg.  I had been working on designing some wedding invites for a friend's daughter and I guess I had been sitting longer than I thought.

By Tuesday, I was not limping as much, but on Wednesday, pulled it again ;-( it slowly got better and the weather here has improved somewhat, so I have been able to get out and about today to finish off all my errands that should have been done during the week.

The following items can be ticked off my to do list::
  • Mail Block Lotto Blocks
  • Mail BSA block
  • Update blog with pics of blocks received

This lovely block received from Elizabeth for July QBSA.  Thank you Elizabeth, I love your choice of fabrics.

This beautiful christmassy block from Leena for Christmas Block Swap, as well as these little extras

Thank you so much Leena, there are lots of lovely ideas popping in my head on what to do with these ;-)

I received this block from Debra, for the June BSA

Now some more items to add to the to do list
  • July Block Lotto blocks
  • July Christmas Block Swap
  • July QBSA
  • July BSA
  • Finish baby quilt

Block Lotto Blocks for July

The blocks for July for Block Lotto are a real ball to make

This month we have a "Liberated Checkerboard" which is a wonky 16 patch block.

Here are my blocks:

not really happy with my points on the red one ;-(

the above two are actually purple, but are displaying more blue

these last two are my faves -
by the third group, I think I got the hang of it ;-)
It certainly helps if you use your ruler to cut the lines.

I am hoping to make more before the end of the month.

So that makes 3 pairs for me so far ;-)
