update on Julie-Ann from Shirley Twigg

Shirley has posted this message on Facebook

Well Julie has found her peace and passed away this morning, glad that she will be with beautiful Jacinda, so sad for Len on an already sad day xxx Thank you for all the prayers and love and light, I know we all helped make Julie's journey a little better and gave the family some peace during a sad sad time, I'm glad we kept the faith and hope, and I'm so thankful that Len had some time with the love of his life xxx

So sad, words don't seem to be enough - my thoughts are with the whole family and DUST community.

Healing thoughts & prayers for Julie-Ann - UPDATED 22/8/11

I am a member of the DUST (Down Under Street Team) on ETSY - it is a group of Australian ETSY sellers that support and help promote each other.

I haven't been a member for long, but my communications with Julie-Ann have made me feel quite welcome and hopeful of my success in ETSY.

Unfortunately, Julie-Ann was involved in a plane crash where her daughter was killed along with the pilot.
Julie-Ann is now fighting for her life.

See news story HERE and updated story HERE

Julie is speaking, which is a great start, she is having more surgery today hopefully, she isn't completely coherent for the moment with anesthetic and sedation xxx

I am not a religious person, but I do believe in the power of positive thoughts, so I have a small request to send some positive healing thoughts (and prayers too ;-) ) Julie-Ann's way.

schnibbles ............ where do you find them?

Schnibble: noun A scrap of fabric; a leftover bit of cloth; a small piece. The word has a German origin and is found primarily in German settlements in the Midwest.

this is a quote from Miss Rosies Quilt Co

I did an internet search to find out what the 'bits' are called

because I am finding them all over the house ;-)

In the toilet ;-)

in front of a chair in the family room

in the hallway between the bedroom and front door

Where is the strangest place you have found them?

Let there be light ;-)

yay, I was able to get some replacement globes from the hardware store - I got a spare ready for the next time it blows - I don't want to be out of action ever again ;-)

I was able to finish off my last block for August QBSA for Terry,
here is a sneak peek

Terry, your block will be in the mail on Friday.

sewing so much, I blew a gasket ;-)

I was having a ball with FNSI, so it continued a bit more on Sunday

I finished my block for GEMMA for Block Swap Adventure

Completed a block for Shirley for Christmas Quilt Block Swap

Gemma and Shirley, your blocks are now in the mail and should get to you in about 7-10 days.

I was getting fabrics ready for my last swap block for the month for Terry for QBSA and there was a flash and the power went out ............. yes, Houston, we have a problem............

I got hubby and we investigated.   The power was off to only half the house, so it was something in the spare rooms ..... process of elimination, we found that the globe in my sewing machine had blown, and taken out the fuse.   Lucky for me, hubby is an electrician, and was able to take the cover off my machine and remove the globe, which had well and truly disintegrated.

I attempted to sew the last block, but it was not good.  I didn't realise just how much light that little globe was putting out and just how dark my sewing room really is.

I will get out tomorrow to get a new globe and finish off my swap obligations ;-)

A gift for a friend ;-)

I have been doing a bit of sewing that I couldn't show on my blog until now ;-)

I made up some makeup purses and tissue holders with the intention of giving one to my friend Lynn, who celebrated her 50th birthday over the weekend.

Lynn picked this one.

Here are some of the others I made up, and since Lynn didn't pick these, I listed them in my Madeit Store.

Blue purse with matching tissue holder - SOLD

Pink purse with matching tissue holder

Four Patch Star in Canada

Here is the pic I posted as a sneak peek for July Block Swap Adventure block for Laurrie, in Canada.

Laurrie has let me know that the block has arrived safely.

Here is the full pic.

Laurrie requested "a Four Patch Star Block something bright and springy – oranges, purples, greens, yellows, blues – I really love them all, so it is hard to limit it. I would like to end up with a scrappy quilt, and would prefer a white background".

Thanks Laurrie, I am glad to know it will fit in with your other blocks.
