Cathy's Campfire Block

My partner, Janet, in the 6" swap group has asked for a Cathy's Campfire block - needless to say I was so excited to be making a block with my name on it ;-)

Here are my first two attempts

the one on the left is my first attempt :(
I am not completely happy with this and will hunt through my stash to get some more hot colours and have another go at it ;-)

UPDATED - Christmas blocks for June

Sandy has let me know that the block I made has arrived ;-)

Sandy requested the Amish Diamond block in traditional Christmas colours with a cream background.

EDITED:  Here is the block Sandy sent to me

Here is the block I made for Fiona
Fiona requested any Yellow Star on a Christmassy Background - I knew that the Friendship Star block would be great for the large print bauble fabric

Thanks to Sandy & Fiona for letting me know the blocks have arrived ;-)

Block Swaps - My first Dresden Plate block!

I completed my first Dresden Plate block this week ;-) for Margaret, my June partner for QBSA

Margaret requested Dresden Plate with points and each petal a different colour alternating light and dark, on black background. I prefer bright happy colours.
I am so pleased with my first effort!  I do hope you are happy with it when it arrives,

so much so, I have ordered a Dresden Plate Ruler from OzQuilts so that I can make up some more and not have to use a paper template.  I am sure a good ruler will make all the difference in the accuracy ;-)

I also completed a log cabin block for Alison for QBSA

Alison requested LOG CABINS - aqua to teal shades (can have other colours blended with these) I have reds/oranges/greens etc) with lime to chartreuse green on the other side (again will have other colours blended).

I do hope I have interpreted your colour request correctly, by keeping the yellow greens on one side and the blue greens on the other ;-)

FNSI - show and tell

It was FNSI again ;-)

I worked on quite a few things ;-)

I started my FNSI in the afternoon and sat down to watch a few episodes of B&B on the TIVO (I confess, I like B&B ;-) ) and did a bit of knitting to finish off a scarfe or two.

I completed a Dutchman's Puzzle block for BSA partner Donna - this one was fun ;-)  I tried a new 'no waste' way of making flying geese and once I got the maths right ...... it came together just fine

I am not happy with the centre points, but I figured I had 'unsewn' it too many times and told myself that not EVERY point had to be perfect  LOL

What took most of the time was sorting fabrics ready for my last two swap blocks for the month .......so I can only show show you piles of fabrics ;-(

.. as well as picking and washing fabrics for Santa Sack Swap partner Fiona - which I can't show you anything just yet.

It's Here! It's Here!

I was admiring the fabric used in a table runner in a recent post of SueB Quilted Hugs.

Sue mentioned that it was just a snippet of her PIF and I secretly hoped I was going to be the recipient as I thought that it would look very nice in my lounge room.  So I did what any good quilter does when hoping a package will arrive ................ I stalked my postie ;-)

you guessed it!   it was for me ;-)  doin' a happy dance

(ignore my new curtains laying on the sofa in the background ;-)
that is a job for hubby over the long weekend)

Thank you so much Sue, I love it!

My PIF is still open if any other fellow quilters wish to take part ;-)
