My December Sewing

If all goes according to plan, this post should appear while we are having Christmas lunch and I won't spoil the surprise for Christmas presents.

As usual, I left my Christmas run a bit late ;-)  both for my cards (see post HERE) and for presents.

After playing nurse to Mr Fixit who had a tooth extraction on Wednesday, our Christmas shopping for presents was completed on Friday and we got our grocery shopping done online and delivered in the afternoon - no need to face the crowds ;-)

First up are pressies for the Nephews - they are both into music and have iPods - iTunes cards were the requested presents.  I couldn't just give a giftcard, so I made some cardholders to store them in.

Next up I finally finished cushions for SIL - I have had the fabric for a while now, and I first thought I had bitten off more than I could chew when saying YES to her request for cushions.

so pleased with how the zips turned out ;-)

During the month of December, I also completed some blocks for block swaps.
Log Cabin for LindaB for BSA

These lovely blocks were received from LindaB - aren't they gorgeous!

this Christmas Block from Tammy from Christmas Block Swap - isn't it fun!

this is the block I made for Tammy

this is the block I made for Dawn for QBSA - unfortunately,
I haven't heard from Dawn yet, so it is yet to be posted.

It's Christmas already - Part II

I had the pleasure of being partnered with Fiona in the Santa Sack Swap organised by the lovely Cheryll

We swapped a few emails and some information and I stalked her blog for a while ;-)
Fiona commented that she like useful things, so here is what I sent her

I made a nice sturdy functional santa sack, big enough to carry a few bottles of wine

A matching card holder and notebook cover

a charm for a zipper pull or scissor fob

cross stitch kit and owl charm

my first pin cushion and needle case - made from the scraps one of my first block swaps

some red embroider threads, ribbon and ric rac

some Asian influenced fabric

An armchair caddy - with some needlework goodies - this was my first attempt at something like this and I was so pleased with my effort
I have since improved on my binding skills

some lovely tea bags were included in the first parcel.

I am glad Fiona liked what I sent.

I was just so flabbergasted as I opened parcel after parcel of absolute gorgeousness!  Thank you Fiona, for being such a thoughtful and generous partner in this swap, and thank you to Cheryll for organising this swap again this year.  I will definitely be taking part next year and I have already started planning for it ;-)

I will do another post with pics of what I have sent to Fiona tomorrow.
