A new gadget for the sewing room

I got very frustrated with pulling the plug out all the time when using my iron, as well as my fancy new iron turning itself off and continuously beeping, and spitting and leaking  ..... but that is another story for later.

I spied out there in blogland that there was such a device as a 'remote control' power board - I pointed it out to Mr Fixit and he said 'get it'!!!
here it is!  this device is great - you can have one item powered all the time (the first plug), then the other 4 can be individually controlled - I now have my iron in No. 4

Back to the story about the iron.  I have recently converted back to my OLD Sunbeam iron, as the fancy new one I bought last year has gone kaput!  it started leaking a little when using it and it triggered the safety switch.  We didn't realise the first time it happened that it was the iron ....... Sunday call out for an electrician as the safety switch actually 'broke' and could not be reset .............. $350 later .... not happy Jan!  then the following weekend, the new safety switch triggered, this time we tested a few items and determined it was the iron that took the safety switch out.

I am currently checking my receipts for when I bought the iron, as I think I will return it - not happy Mr Sunbeam :(

Thank you for visiting my blog today - I hope you have a good day.

  1. That looks like a fabulous power baord..
I have one with individual switches on it.
When I bought my iron I made sure it did not BEEP when it turned itself off. Nothing worse than that beeping..

  2. I love that power board, very high tech! I'd definitely be sending a bill to Sunbeam for that electrical callout. Hope you find that receipt!
