Google Reader gone .... Feedly it is ;-)

Blogland is abuzz Google Reader will be shutting it's doors 1st July 2013 :(

I wasn't really happy to hear that, but have been looking around at a replacement reader - at this stage, looks like Feedly is the winner for me ;-)

It flows just like Google Reader, just a click and you are on your way ;-)  perfectly painless ;-)
My lists/favourites are all transferred over - I have chosen to view my list in the 'full article' view, and they are marked as 'read' as I scroll down - just like Google Reader - if the Blogger has chosen to show only part of their post in a reader, I click over to the actual blog to read the rest of the post - just like Google Reader.

I have found a wealth of information over on the Feedly blog HERE.

So ......... so far so good ;-)

You can subscribe to my blog utilising Feedly by clicking on the 'Subscribe To' button on the right hand sidebar, and selecting "Atom" (select Posts or Comments), then Feedly opens up. It is here you can Add it to your Feedly reading list and put it in any of your categories/faves.  If you wish to change categories later, just click on the blog in the Feedly list and click on the 'edit' button - you can then select/deselect which category the blog can go in ;-)  easy peasy!   I love reading my blogs by category - I can just read my 'Quilting Aussies' list, if I am wanting to see what is happening here in quilting blogland here in Australia.

Just an observation  .............. it looks like Blogger will still have the 'Reading List' available at the bottom of your Blogger Dashboard, so you can continue to read the blogs you follow that way if you wish.

Thank you for visiting my blog today - I hope you have a good day.

FAwF/FNwF - show and tell - UPDATED

I had an excellent result for my FAwF (Friday Arvo with Friends)  finishing up around 8pm - in time for Mr Fixit coming home with Fish and Chips for tea ;-)

I had a specific project in mind - I wanted to finish a table top for my Roomie (Julie) from my school reunion (see post here).  You see, we got talking after dinner on the Saturday night and we found that we shared an interest in beading, but Julie was unable to continue with it because of her hands.  Julie asked me if I would like a few beads that she didn't want any more, and of course I said yes.  Well, the package that arrived had me in AWE!!!  It was the most wonderful selection of beads and I spent about 2 hours going through them all and imagining the things I could make with them.

I agreed to make her a table runner in return - Julie regularly has friends over for 'feasts' and she likes to place her dishes in the middle of the table so that everyone can help themselves ;-)

Her request was for bright and colourful ;-)  I started with a partially finished top made with HSTs from the Rainbow Charm Swap, took off the bottom row, rearranged it and placed it on the top row to give the top a more uniform flow.

Then I auditioned a few backgrounds

I finally settled on this background from Cynthia's Ark - Bamboo Fabric

attaching the binding - a most satisfying step

now, what is wrong with the following piccie :(  something is missing and I am not talking about the light :)

I will see if anyone notices and leaves a comment ;-) (problem now solvered ;-))
EDITED:  yes, in my haste I missed a few rows of quilting on the right hand side, so I had to undo the binding, quilt the last 6 diagonal rows and re-attach the binding.

double sided delight

finished table topper measures approx 1 metre by 80 cm - Julie has a big table ;-)

EDITED:  Julie has since let me know that it has arrived and she loves it ;-)

I really enjoyed FAwF this time - after spending so much time this last two weeks at TAFE and doing homework on the computer, it was soooo nice to get back in the sewing room ;-)

So this counts for another Finish for 2013  ;-)
