FAwF/FNwF show and tell

FAwF/FNwF   ........... was catch up time for me ;-)

I promised myself I would catch up on my CraftMad Quilt Block swaps - you see I have fallen way behind :(  thankfully, Mandy and Merry are very understanding.

We have started a new colour choice for our blocks this year - dusky greens, blues and yellows.

At first, I had a real problem deciding on my colour choices, then I stumbled on some fabrics from Cynthia's Ark - Daisies in the Wind - and ordered 1/2 metre of each.  Here are the blocks I have made

First block for the year was a Card Trick
CM Family Quilt Card Trick

this is what I have received

then a Friendship Star

now a Rail Fence

I won't say here who gets what block ............. I want to leave something as a surprise for the recipients ;-)

I have ordered some more of this so that I can continue making our next blocks in the same colourway.  I have spied that it is also available in a pink/purple ............ I can see another order some time soon  ;-)

Thank you for visiting my blog today - I hope you have a good day.

FNSI - show and tell - for real this time ;-)

Lynda has let me know that her block for 12" Quilt Block Swap Australia
Lynda asked for Card Trick in greens - I hope I have picked the right 'green'

The Card Trick block was the 3rd block I ever tried when I first started swapping - it was a challenge then, and it proved another challenge this time ;-)

I threw in an extra pinwheel block made with the 'mis-cuts' - measure twice, cut once ;-)

I previously posted about my first Card Trick block HERE and HERE

Sue has let me know the block I made for her for January QBSA has arrived.

Sue asked for a log cabin in black, white and red

A Pledge and Block Swap for March

I, Cathy, pledge to do my very best to have integrity and honesty in my swap commitments. To be on time, every time, to participate in discussions and to communicate if I am going to be late or unable to complete my obligations to my swap partner.

My March partner for QBSA was the lovely Dallas, and she has sent me this gorgeous block - just love the colours

It came with a gorgeous lavender sachet too - I love lavender ;-)
thank you so much Dallas, I really do like the colours you have chosen.

This is the block I made for Dallas

Card Trick Block - I got the trick!! ;-)

the trick with the card trick block is to measure TWICE and cut ONCE   LOL

I managed to cut ALL of my larger squares at 5 1/8 not 5 1/4 - that is what I get for not looking at my fancy new ruler properly.

I am not used to working in inches - that's my story and I am sticking to it LOL

We have success!

look at how these seams matched up!

Card Trick Block - what is the trick?

what is the trick to get my card trick blocks lined up properly???

Attempt 1
Attempt 2

Attempt 3

This my first attempt at a card trick block and I am following instructions from HERE - it says for a confident beginner skill level !!
I think I am improving - will give it another go after I go out and get some more black  ;-)
