Good News | Bad News

Good News is that I got some extra unexpected sewing time and worked on my belated block swaps .........

Bad News is that we were supposed to be away on holiday this week, but one of our friends that we were going away with has ended up in hospital :(  Major Bummer!

ofcourse, the usual preparation for sewing

A glass of Coke-a-Cola, and a Balfours Custard Tart - I have been eating these
custard tarts for as long as I can remember and always think of my Mum when I have one ;-)

block for xmas swap

Sal requested any block and confessed to being partial to the odd snowman or two ;-)  I found this cute fabric in my stash - I think I got it at one of the craft fairs ;-)  the red background was a recent purchase from a Facebook Aussie destashing page ;-)

block for qbsa

for Jo who requested any star block in country colours - burgundy, browns, greens - I hope it is OK - this photo is a bit bright :) the red is more of a burgundy red

(Note:  this is a Blackfords Beauty block - this same block pattern is made HERE for the Christmas Block Swap and it looks soooo different - it is stunning what a different colour placement makes!)

Tablerunner Swap

tease photo for my partner ;-)  I gave Wendy a choice of all my charm packs, and she picked Blueberry Crumb Cake - sorry, you will have to wait until Wendy receives this for the big reveal ;-)

Do. Good Stitches Bee Block
Black and White scrappy tripalong - waiting on photos from recipient - I forgot to take them :(

I also sent a spare blue and white star block for the January Charity Quilt

This following item counted as a 2013 finish for me, as it used an orphan block.  I only showed a tease photo previously, as it was a PIF and I knew the recipient reads my blog ;-)

hot pad for Raelene

I love getting to the stage of putting the binding on ;-)

Raelene has advised that it has been received, and just in time for her birthday.
I was just a bit slack in posting a full photo.

FAwF/FNwF show and tell

FAwF/FNwF   ........... was catch up time for me ;-)

I promised myself I would catch up on my CraftMad Quilt Block swaps - you see I have fallen way behind :(  thankfully, Mandy and Merry are very understanding.

We have started a new colour choice for our blocks this year - dusky greens, blues and yellows.

At first, I had a real problem deciding on my colour choices, then I stumbled on some fabrics from Cynthia's Ark - Daisies in the Wind - and ordered 1/2 metre of each.  Here are the blocks I have made

First block for the year was a Card Trick

this is what I have received

then a Friendship Star

now a Rail Fence

I won't say here who gets what block ............. I want to leave something as a surprise for the recipients ;-)

I have ordered some more of this so that I can continue making our next blocks in the same colourway.  I have spied that it is also available in a pink/purple ............ I can see another order some time soon  ;-)

FAT QUARTER SWAP
in February I requested whites - tones on tones - and received these from Melanie and Maureen

This is what I sent Melanie who was kind enough to send me a photo, as I forgot to take one - oops

There was an extra FQ thrown in for Melanie's birthday!

I sent Maureen 2 FQs from this lovely range by Sarah Fielke - the one on the left, and the one on the right - if my memory serves me right - once again I forgot to take a photo.

Thank you for visiting my blog today - I hope you have a good day.
