FNSI | show and tell

FNSI again - I confess to getting an early start on my FNSI (I actually started on Thursday, as I knew I would be out shopping on Friday)

Ofcourse, the obligatory preparation has been done :)
Been feeling a bit sad lately - so I had a glass of port, in Dad's favourite glasses and some Menz Fruchocs

I finished off my Do Good Stitches Bee Blocks - they are now ready to post

I received this lovely block from Beth, for my CraftMad Family quilt

I sent off the following Fat Quarters to my April Fat Quarter Swap partner, Maree
Maree asked for Black & White floral :)

I finished off my Christmas Block, for my swap partner CarolynM
I took inspiration from Block #2 from a BOM  on Our Craft Group on Facebook - this block is now ready to post

That's it for me for now - next task is to set aside some  time for my Farmers Wife quilt :)

FNSI show and tell

I got to spend some much needed time in my sewing room yesterday - thanks to FNSI - Friday Night Sew In hosted by the lovely Wendy.

Of course, the afternoon always starts with some good preparation :)

I put the finishing touches on my Do Good Stitches blocks for September - yes, I know :(  I am very late with these blocks.

Hello, I'm back ......................

Well, that was a bit longer break than I anticipated :(
Things are progressing with the sorting of my Father's estate - such that it is :)  The amount of paperwork is staggering!  I understand it would be even worse if he did not have a Will!

It is time to play catchup with my blog posts, and to say a very sincere thank you to those that left beautiful comments, both here and on my Facebook page - they were most appreciated.

A big thank you to my QBSA August partner, KerryB, for being so very patient in waiting for me to send her blocks to her - as a thank you I sent two blocks :)

Scrapbagger Block #1 for Kerry

Scrapbagger Block #2 for Kerry
Two blocks seems so little by way of thank you, as Kerry sent me a STACK of purple 9 patches so that I can finish my Purple Patch quilt just that little bit quicker :)  Will post photos of the purple patch quilt soon - stay tuned!  :)

Attic Windows
This is what I sent Ank, my July partner for QBSA.  Photos of what Ank sent to me will follow :)

CM Family Christmas Quilt - July & August blocks from Mandy - I noticed after taking the photo, that I will need to flip one of the sections :)

I also managed to complete one of my Do.Good Stitches blocks from June - I was running very late with that one :(
Improv log cabins
I quite enjoyed this one, just grabbed a few scraps in oranges/yellows, than scraps of neutral for the strips ...... came together quite quickly :)
I am yet to catch up with July, August and now September blocks - but I am working on that one :)

Well, that's it from me .............. for now - off to see what is next on my TO DO LIST!

Catching up with some photos

Gorgeous FQs from De for June FQ Swap

Cluster of Stars/Sawtooth Star from Mandy for CraftMad Family Quilt
I have been on a bit of a 'sorting/decluttering' phase - and sorted some of my sewing stuff  - this was after I had spent several hours trying to find some heart buttons I just KNEW I  had somewhere ..... somewhere safe  :)
Projects in plastic tubs

12" blocks all sorted in containers
Needless to say, I have not yet found my heart buttons :(  they are still safely hidden!

I did come across an excellent find on ebay the other day
this gorgeous quilt rack - for $20 - it now holds my flimsies :)
Hopefully, if they are out in the open, I will be more inclined to complete them :)

June Blocks (updated) .........

I got to spend quite a few hours in the sewing room yesterday ......... there was a bit of a movie marathon of X-Men movies on Foxtel, so Mr Fixit was suitably entertained for the afternoon and quite happy to be ignored  :)
blocks received for the CraftMad Family Quilt
from Mandy

from Merry
Clay's Choice

Star Cluster (Sawtooth Star)

here is what I have sent

CHRISTMAS BLOCK SWAP
Tease photo for JenD, USA - June
hopefully, it will arrive shortly :)

Updated:  Jen's Block has arrived
Log Cabin

QUILT BLOCK SWAP AUSTRALIA
these lovely rainbow starflower blocks

from Donna, for June

since Donna was generous enough to send two blocks, I have returned the favour

making progress on my Christmas in July Swap
Bad News:  The kit I purchased was missing a few things - like threads and batting :(
Good News: I was able to use up some of the threads I have received as part of the Fat Quarter Swap :)

I am not a good embroiderer, but I think I am improving.  I am certainly enjoying the nice quiet time sitting and stitching :)

All that is left now, is to:
  • finish my CHERISH Do Good Stitches Charity blocks - 2 x improv blocks/log cabin in the red/orange /yellow spectrum surrounded by lights/neutrals
  • catch up on my RSC14 blocks - purple, green & yellow
  • catch up on my Globetrotter QAL/BOM blocks - March, April, May, June
  • make a start on my 12" mini quilt for September - Summer Theme

Christmas blocks

here are some of the Christmas blocks I have received from my cardmaking friends over on the CraftMad Forum

We are swapping 12" blocks with a Christmas theme each month - there are three of us swapping, so each month we make 2 blocks (I think Merry is making up 3 blocks, so that she keeps one that she has made)

here is what I have received so far this year

I will be catching up with my crafty friends in QLD in October - see my sidebar for the countdown of my trip .............. can you tell I am excited?   I am leaving Mr Fixit home and going on a girly, crafty holiday for 7 days ........... yes, 7 whole days in Brisbane ............ well Chermside & Kallangur to be exact :)

Thank you for visiting my blog today - I hope you have a good day.

More holiday sewing .....

Playing catchup again :)

I realised I had forgotten to post a photo of what I received from Ann for my Fat Quarter Swap for February - I just love the card :)

Many thanks to my CraftMad Family, Mandy & Merry, for being so very patient for these blocks - I am so sad for letting myself get so far behind.
