Concerns about Pinterest - UPDATED

I have been watching the Pinterest explosion with interest (pun NOT intended), and I have come across some information which concerns me ;-)

I often wondered how people could pin something (as good as taking it from the original source - be it a blog, or a photo gallery) and not seek permission from the original owner.  Yes, there is an option to credit the original source, but how many 'pinners' go back to that original source?

Now it seems the 'plot has thickened' and there is more to this than just pinning.

I have discovered a wonderful blog post HERE which articulates so wonderfully what my concerns were and gives some more information.

UPDATED:
A beautifully written article by Sharon from Pin Tangle is HERE mentioning that Pinterest have updated their terms - a result People Power maybe ;-)

UPDATED:
some links for various How To's are HERE - thanks for sharing Sharon ;-)

Thank you for visiting my blog today - I hope you have a good day.

  1. Thanks for sharing that Cathy. I too have had concerns about the Pinterest concept and for that reason have not joined the site. I in no way profit from my quiltmaking and certainly my blog is really only a journal for me but I would not like to see my work used without my permission. I found the link you put in really interesting, along with links from that to another blog, and have now taken the action suggested to ensure no photos from my blog are used on Pinterest and have searched Pinterest in the way suggested to ensure no photos are already there. Thanks for sharing this info!
