Sailboats - first successful try at paper piecing

Here is the tease photo I posted for the 6" Block - to SueB

Sue has now received these blocks so I can post a full picture

I had fun with this block  ;-)  ;-((
Sue asked how I went with the paper piecing? ............. well, my hair is normally straight and after my third attempt, let's say it was curly by the end of the afternoon  ;-)

I got it in the end ;-)  and included my first test as well - it is not quite right, but Sue is free to use it or bin it ;-)

Thank you for visiting my blog today - I hope you have a good day.

  1. the blocks look fantastic Cathy... I have only recently done a bit of paper piecing... fun to learn new techniques.... even if it curls hair... in my case greys it!!

  2. Funny isn't it, the first quilt I ever made was paper pieced because to me that looked easy as there was even a line to sew along so I couldn't get it wrong. I started with a cushion cover and loved it so much I turned it into a single bed quilt! I recently went back to paper piecing and while I don't find it difficult I did feel it was a lot of 'faffing about' now that I can do normal piecing! Funny how your perspective changes. Its still great for tricky points though! Your little boats look great!
