Getting ready ...........

to make a start on my Farmers Wife Quilt - I bought some more fabrics yesterday from A Quilters Odyssey.  I timed my visit well, as my friend Cynthia was there too :)  and I got to see her Farmer's Wife quilt in the flesh, so to speak ................... OMG it is just gorgeous!!!!

I pinched Cynthia's pic from her blog - this photo does not do it justice at all!
Seeing her flimsy convinced me I needed some more lights to mix in with my other colours .....
..... to add to my original picks ....
I will start cutting now and see how they play out :)
I was going to do one block a week, but Kate reminded me that there is 111 blocks so it would take over two years to do it that way :( (I was never good at maths :( and can't add up to save my life)

So the goal is to do 2 blocks a week - they are only 6" blocks so it should be doable :)
I am even thinking of grabbing some of the fabrics I set aside for the Globetrotting Quilt Along - as some of my fave fabrics are in there as well :)

FNSI - show and tell

Well, I didn't get too much done last night for FNSI as I had the whole day out at the Adelaide Sewing, Stitching and HandCraft Fair and was quite exhausted by the time I got home :)

I spent most of my day assisting on the Stall of Cynthia's Ark for my friend Cynthia :)

I must say, that normally, I am one of those people that are in the background, doing the grunt work - I never saw myself as a person who would comfortably 'deal with the public', but I was most happy to be able to help Cynthia - I enjoyed it so much, and I am hoping to be able to do it again  :)

The crowds were a bit quiet - I think the extreme cold and being the last day of school holidays didn't help - but there was a fairly constant flow of quilters visiting the stall.   It was so lovely to see them go on the hunt for fabrics that would work with their existing projects.  I managed to see some lovely works in progress, and I do hope I can get to see the finished articles some time in the future  :)

A Facebook friend even popped in to say hello and meet 'face to face' LOL

So, my show and tell, is not really so much tell, as I have now lost my voice and seem to have developed a terrible cold during the hour drive home :(

Never mind, a special treat of a Black Russian was waiting for me when I got home :)
everyone knows that alcohol kills germs right?

more catching up ...............

...... on photos

In January 2014, I happened to be in the right place, at the right time to get these patterns from A Patchwork Quilt- with a discount code, I ultimately got postage for free :)  Now to find time to do some stitching!

February 28th was my friend Cynthia's birthday - so I made her a little purse to carry her bits and pieces when she attends workshops :)

but with Mr Fixit's unexpected stay in hospital, and other factors,
there was a bit of a delay in getting her present to her :(

we got there in the end - Cynthia laughed out loud when she unwrapped it ................. Cynthia actually helped me pick out these fabrics at A Quilter's Odyssey LOL

Friday Night with Friends

I got to spend some time in the sewing room yesterday ;-)

I managed to do some tidying up and got caught up on some swap blocks for the CraftMad Family Quilt

Finished some Christmas Pressie sewing

During the week, I received this gorgeous block from Cynthia for Christmas Block Swap

as well as some more goodies ;-)

This lovely block from Jean

and this is what I sent her - I presume it has arrived by now ;-)

EDITED:
I have also heard from my October partner for Block Swap Adventure that my block has arrived
Lana asked for any block in spring colours and as I was in the mood to play with my Dresden ruler again, I thought it was appropriate I use all the lovely bright colours I have in my stash ;-)

Lana says "OH MY GOODNESS! Your block is fabulous! Its my favorite so far of all the blocks I have received!"
I am so very happy to hear that, I was particularly pleased with this one ;-)

Must be off - am hoping to get some more Christmas pressie sewing done this weekend ;-)

October Christmas blocks

The lovely Cynthia has let me know the blocks I made for her have arrived ;-)

I added an extra block as an Angel Block to fill in for her previous partner who was unable to complete her swap.

This gorgeous block & Christmas Decoration was from MicheleK - thank you so much, I love the fabrics you have chosen -- I feel very special indeed ;-)

My very late blocks for October and a weekend with the girls ;-)

Well, October has certainly disappeared in the blink of an eye - where did it go?

I seem to have been so very busy, but don't really have that much to show for it :(

So I don't spoil the surprise for my last two Christmas Block Swap partners, Jean & Cynthia, here is just a tease ;-)

Both of these blocks are finally in the mail,
with my apologies for being so very late ;-)

I heard from Debbie, my partner for October QBSA, that my block has arrived
here is what Debbie sent me ;-)

This last week has been a blur, as I prepare for a weekend away with the girls in a School Reunion of sorts - in the lovely picturesque town of Victor Harbor, South Australia.

I am intending to visit The Quilt Basket ;-)

Photos will be posted on my return ;-)
