FNwF & FNSI - May

Well, where did that two weeks go?

The days are just blending into each other and becoming a blur ......

Last Friday I started working on a new project for FNwF -  the SA Quilt Guild introduced a Mystery Quilt Along - I know, I shouldn't start anything new, but I couldn't resist!

I must confess to waiting to see a few photos of the second stage, before I committed - yes, I know what you are thinking, but I was cutting into a Moda layer cake I have had for years, and wanted to be certain LOL

First stage of prep!

Then we had to pick a box (Letter of alphabet) - I chose C
this is the first set of blocks using the C1 quilt layout

I have gone scrappy layout, with no two of the same fabrics in each block - with 4 blocks making up a set ...... I think I like it!

So this my belated FNwF report and the current FNSI report.
Hope you are all well and happy and keeping safe

March WOOFA ....

.... I have a finish!!!   yay!!!!

I finished my Farmers Wife Quilt - finished at approx 60" square, 61 blocks

I am very pleased with the way it turned out :)  I used a mixed selection of fabrics in tonings & colours that I like :)  Mostly Fat Quarters and most collected over a 12 month period.  The backing heart fabric was a great find at a Market  :)

Quilting was done on a vintage domestic Janome - but there was a casualty :(

Partway through adding the binding, there was a metalic sound, then a sort of a clicking that didn't sound good :(  I opened the bobbin drawer and that little curved piece of metal was lying on the bottom - I don't know where it came from :(  (thanks to the internet, I was able to determine that little sliver of metal has come off the bobbin case - not sure it can be 'fixed' but I have another bobbin case, so I can continue using the Janome :) )

I love the binding, Kansas Troubles by Moda.

Many thanks to the lovely Cheryll for hosting

WOOFA
:)
I am newly motivated to get onto the next UFO!

Quilting Gallery - Quilters Show and Tell - vote now :)

It has been a while since I submitted a quilt to Quilting Gallery - show and tell.

This week, it is tablerunners, so I thought I would submit the tablerunner I made for a swap, back in April 2013.

Made with Moda, Blueberry Crumb Cake charm pack

Check out all the other lovely tablerunners that are on display

Support your LQS day

is today, 24th January, see HERE, but it was way too hot for me to go out - another scorcher 38C  - that's 100.4 F in the old money ;-)

I went out yesterday to my LQS (Spotlight) and spent up big - so I will happily count that as supporting my LQS

First up, I found a solid to go with my Martinique charm squares - I have two charm squares and am looking at making a quilt for our bedroom.  I haven't decided what pattern yet, or even the rest of the fabrics, but it is a start!

Then a selection of rainbow tone on tones just happened to follow me home.
The two top ones - grey and black - are earmarked for bindings ;-)

Then I got myself some Sarah Fielke - I have seen this about the blogs, and when I saw it in person, I fell in love with it.  Not too sure what I am going to do with it just yet, but I am working on a plan ;-)

Look what landed in my letterbox ;-)

Some of you may remember Samelia's Mum celebrating a birthday and 500 posts by having a giveaway!

Well, I was the lucky winner of the layer cake ;-)

Here it is in real life ;-)

these are some of my faves (on first flicking through)

love this watermelon - would make a great potholder ;-)

loving the colourings

Thank You so much Anorina,
these fabrics have such a beautiful feel to them ;-)
I know I am going to enjoy working with them.

Centennial Block received by Melissa

Melissa has just posted that she has received the centennial block I had made for her.
Melissa, thank you for letting me know that it has arrived safely and thank you so much for your kind words ;-)  I am really thrilled that you like it.

I posted a snippet earlier, so now I will post a full pic.

Photo of top right corner leaves - I would have loved to have made all of the leaves with this material, but only had one small scrap ;-(

The HSTs between the scrappy leaves were made using a different textured white from the 'background'.  I wanted to create a slightly different look to the whole 'leaves' area.  It doesn't show up in the photo as much as I would have liked, but you can see it with the naked eye.

I had fun going through my scraps and came across some Moda Old Primrose Inn charm squares that were perfect for the colours required.
