FNSI - Friday, 17th April 2020

We are slowly adjusting to this 'stay at home, stay safe' thinking ...😷

So far, I have only been out once this week to do the grocery shopping.  We still hadn't been able to get toilet paper and things would have been quite desperate at the end of this week, but a friend was able to get some and made a quick 'pit stop/drive-by' to drop some on the front door step 😌

I have spent a bit of time in the sewing room, finishing off some 'rainbow stripes' for CHERISH do Good Stitches charity bee - this will have to wait till the next time I am out of the house to be posted.

FNSI (well in the afternoon) was quite enjoyable working on a UFO

... a bit of Port, chocolate and something to keep the hands busy ... what more does a girl need 😉

This cross stitch will count towards my April Woofa Challenge.

I was quite relieved to read that South Australia is doing particularly well with 'flattening the curve' and I do hope that some restrictions can start to be lifted some time during May 💕

it's hot, hot, hot!!!

Hi everyone

we are in the middle of a really HOT spell here in Adelaide - 38C on Friday, 42C on Saturday and 42C today :)

but I managed to get some sewing done for CHERISH do. Good Stitches

Can't wait to see this one completed - there are 10 of us, each making a row in a different colour of the rainbow. :)

Stay cool my fellow South Aussies!

November blocks for Cherish do. Good Stitches

November was my turn again to pick the blocks for Cherish Bee.  I picked a 9 patch Rainbow with a white centre - I will be cutting these blocks up to make a disappearing 9 patch ........... after I finish my January Bee quilts ....... (hangs head in shame)  I have one flimsy made up, but not quilted.

Here is my sample block - once again using up some of the 5" squares received in a rainbow charm swap I did a while back :)

9 patch rainbow

and here are the blocks I have received :)

Rainbow 9 patches

Rainbow 9 patches

Now to press them all, and start cutting so that I can play with the layout LOL  I think I actually enjoy that process more than the sewing :)

Here is my pink flimsy all ready for the next step!

Wonky White Stars

here is the layout for my blue flimsy - am yet to sew these together

Wonky White Stars - Blue

The admin for this circle has taken a bit more time than I anticipated - doesn't it always LOL - but this year we have two new quilters and that means I can be a stitcher for most of the year.

There were no blocks for December - we can have a break, or use the time to catch up on things.  I volunteered to be a quilter for January to give the other circle members time to decide which months they would like to pick :)  For January, I have picked a black & white churn dash block - 2 blocks requested being 1 @ black on white, and 1 @ white on black :)

Stay tuned for pics a bit later :)

Light the Night in Adelaide

You may remember I recently made a quilt for my friend :)
Rainbow Coin Stacks - front

Well, Di has been sent home - sadly, there is not a lot more then can do for her, but there is one more ray of hope - a clinical trial.  We are all hoping and praying that this trial will have a positive outcome :)

I'm lighting a lantern at Light the Night on October 9 in support of my friend, Di.

More information on this event, can be found HERE

Please support the Leukemia Foundation with a donation to help Australian families impacted by blood cancer.

Di's team 'Di's Peloton'  will hit the streets on October 9, walking to support the Leukemia Foundation and our wonderful Di'sy. Please consider joining me, or if you cannot make it, making a donation to support this special cause.  Light the Night, we are doing it for Di!

A UFO Finish!

I finally finished the quilt for my friend Dianne :)  I am reasonably pleased with how it turned out - it has been so long since I quilted anything of any size on the Brother BM-2600 ..... I had forgotten just how small the throat is :(

Anyway, all done now - here are some pics of my Lifetime Quilt #13 - Rainbow Coin Stacks  :)

here is the shot I took in 2011 when I first finished the flimsy

I shortened it, and added another white strip on each end, then sandwiched and quilted.  The backing is a red and white gingham type pattern, but is stronger than gingham - I think it is actually sheet material.

all finished, quilted and bound

diagonal quilting and obligatory rolled/folded photo

matching quilted cushion

One of the benefits of the quilt is that Dianne's gorgeous grand-daughter will be able to play "I Spy" on this quilt.  Hopefully, Dianne will be able to use the cushion in the club rooms when she returns - the club rooms have plastic chairs and they get so cold in the winter :)

CHERISH Do Good Stitches - June Block

after my success with May's block, I got sidetracked in June and was a bit late sending off my June block.

This block was super easy to make, and ended up being a huge 21"
I am really looking forward to seeing the finished quilt with this one :)

It's Summer Time :)

well, sort of ................. it's time for my Summer swap for the Mini Quilt Swap run by Cheryll

Here is what I have made (it will be in the post this week)

After the last two months, it was really nice to spend time in my sewing room and work with some cheery fabric :)

So who is getting this one?

Another wonderful swap, organised by the Queen of Swaps, Cheryll, from Gone Stitchin

This is what I sent Melanie who was kind enough to send me a photo, as I forgot to take one - oops
There was an extra FQ thrown in for Melanie's birthday!

I sent Maureen 2 FQs from this lovely range by Sarah Fielke - the one on the left, and the one on the right - if my memory serves me right - once again I forgot to take a photo.
