more QLD Flood relief efforts - wonky log cabins

I had a belated FNSI, and sewed up a storm on Saturday.
I had lots of strips set aside for some reason, so I decided to do something useful with them and have made up some scrappy wonky log cabin blocks.

the blocks made with 2 1/2" strips come together quicker,
but I think I like the 1 1/2" strips best

I will send these off to retro mummy shortly.

This gave me an opportunity to have a practice run before I cut up my black & white and red fabrics for a quilt cover for our bedroom.

I have been a busy little beaver ;-)

with apologies to my two remaining January swap partners SylviaU and Marybeth, I have been busy making up a baby blanket/quilt for the QLD Flood Relief

I had a few scraps left over from my first ever baby quilt and decided to put them to good use.  I wasn't sure I would have enough to make up a complete quilt, but surprise, surprise, I have ;-)

here it is on my design wall (which is really a mattress protector strung up in front of a cupboard)

Here it is ..... all quilted and finished

I am quite pleased with this one ;-)

I made the quilt especially for the QLD Flood Relief effort, hoping to auction it off, and if no bids are received, it will be donated to OzComfortQuilts

I am happy with the way it came together ..........

The quilting is not quite perfect .........

some of the lines are a bit crooked .......

but it was made with love ;-)

My first QAYG square - I have just enough batting left for 3 more squares and will get onto them during the week

I will resume normal programming now, and work on my January blocks ;-)

QLD Flood Appeal – doing my little bit ;-)

I am sure that the majority of people now reading this post are fully aware of the devastation that has been caused by the floods in Queensland. It is mind-blowing to think that 75% of the State has been declared a disaster zone.

If you haven't already been over to see how you can help Gum Tree Designers with their 'New Beginnings' appeal, please visit HERE and read how you can help.

Toni at Make it Perfect has organised a huge on-line auction and all proceeds will be going to the Premier’s Flood Appeal.

For a complete list of auctions that have been set up to raise funds

Now for my little effort ;-)

I recently listed some gathered clutch purses in my ETSY store with a note that 50% of sales would go towards QLD flood relief. I have decided to withdraw some of those listings and list them here on this blog, as an auction with 100% of the sales to go towards the Premier’s Flood Appeal.

Please see my AUCTIONS post for my individual listings and how it will all work.

I am also in the process of making up some QAYG blocks for Oz Comfort Quilts (tutorial HERE) and am hoping to finish a baby quilt to donate as well.
