Made and Quilted with love

The Block Lotto members got together and secretly made a quilt for the Lotto's creator, Sophie, as a way to say Thank You.

I have enjoyed being part of this group very much and had no hesitation in making a block for this special project.

The group members were asked to contribute blocks selected from a past Block Lotto block.  We were to follow the color rules of the original Block Lotto block, but size it to 10".

I made a 10" version of the Violet blocks we made for the August 2011 Lotto.

The quilt has been received, so now I can post about it ;-)

Here is a pic of the quilt just before it was posted to Sophie
My block is on the right edge, 4th row ;-)

I cannot get over just how great it looks - it has exceeded my expectations.  The quilt was organized by Laura and quilted by Cathy S - they did an awesome job with getting this together so quickly.

Sophie has posted a pic of it on her red sofa HERE

If you are interested in the Block Lotto, the January block complete with instructions can be found here.

I have been extremely lucky with the Block Lotto Gods smiling on me and I have won 3 times.  Making quilts out of these winnings is officially on my 2012 TO DO LIST ;-).

Thank you for visiting my blog today - I hope you have a good day.
Remember, any day doing something you love makes it a good day ;-)

Aussie Quilt Block Swaps - November blocks & other stuff

it was FNSI last night, but I didn't get to sew :-(
EDITED:  oops, got the wrong date ... next FNSI is 19th November

so I got up early and did a SMSI (saturday morning sew in)

I finally finished my November Christmas Block swap for Mary in Canada - here is just a snippet.

Mary, your block will be in the mail on Monday.

On Friday, the postman delivered this lovely block from Linda (my October partner)  Linda's first block never arrived, so Linda very graciously made me another one - thank you so much Linda, I love the richness of the colours you have chosen.

I would like to thank Crafty Pug too ;-)  for the lovely patch of material she sent to me as a thank you for participating in Alex's quilt.

I think that fabric is beautiful.  I am intending to make up a pin cushion with it so that every time I use it, I can think of our swap group.

Now to get to some more sewing ;-)

pics of blocks I have forgotten to blog

I forgot to post a pic of the block I made for Leona's sister, Tammy's Quilt

Here is a full pic of Linda's block for October - unfortunately, we are still waiting on the postman to deliver Linda's block to me ;-(
Linda requested http://quilterscache.com/B/BlazingArrowsBlock.html in greens (not olive), or blues in combination with white

Quilted Hugs

In August, fellow swapper  Crafty Pug  put forward a suggestion that we make a quilt for a friend in need of some quilted hugs.

We conspired and we sewed and swapped lots of emails and pics and sent our blocks to Crafty Pug who weaved her magic and produced the most beautiful quilt.

Alex has just posted the most beautiful thank you for the group's efforts.

Here is my block before Crafty Pug wove her magic wand

I love how Crafty Pug has brought it all together and produced such a wonderful work of art.
P.S.  Happy 10th Anniversary Alex ;-)
